The Farm

Chickens raised for meat are housed in moveable coops (chicken tractors) where they receive fresh air and exercise 24/7. They are moved to fresh pasture every day where they can supplement their non-GMO feed with insects and grasses. In turn they fertilize the grass. We raise both Cornish Cross and Rainbow Rangers. They are never given any growth hormones, antibiotics, steroids, etc. Pasture-raised, healthy chickens are higher in vitamins and minerals, omega-3 fatty acids, g

ood fats, and rich flavor.

The mangalitsa pig is a heritage breed from Hungary known for their wooly hair and high lard content. Their meat is considered among the tastiest pork in the world. It is reddish in color and highly marbled. Their natural diet of forage and an assortment of grains, vegetables, nuts, etc. make for meat that is high in omega-3 fatty acids as well as unsaturated fat.

Our mangalitsas are raised 100% outdoors, rotated through pasture and woods.

The Idaho Pasture Pig is a newly-developed breed of Duroc, Old Berkshire, and Kunekune, and designed to feed mainly on grass. Because of their upturned snouts they are more inclined to graze as opposed to rooting up the ground. They have very calm, curious, and friendly dispositions. Their diet of mainly grass and grains results in a highly nutritious and well-marbled meat high in omega-3 fatty acids.

Our pigs are always raised outdoors, rotated through pasture and woods, with feed, water, and shelter always available.

Our egg-laying hens are raised with no growth hormones, antibiotics, or chemicals. They are given non-GMO feed and have the freedom to roam around their pasture, foraging for insects and grasses. This results in nutrient-dense eggs and happy and healthy chickens.

Pursuing our dream of owning a hobby farm, we left our small urban market garden in Chicago in 2018 and moved to Plainwell in southwest Michigan where we expanded our production (and our family!). We are grateful to be able to supply our family and community with nutritious and delicious food.

“I dislike the thought that some animal has been made miserable to feed me. If I am going to eat meat, I want it to be from an animal that has lived a pleasant, uncrowded life outdoors, on bountiful pasture, with good water nearby and trees for shade.”
